This high quality book specifically covers the history of LeTourneau, LeTourneau-Westinghouse and Wabco's extensive manufacturing and distribution operations in Australia which spanned some 43 years commencing in 1941 until 1984.

Wabco Australia is compiled in three main parts:

A condensed company history is interwoven with a detailed technical and historical description of LeTourneau, LeTourneau-Westinghouse and Wabco equipment manufactured or assembled in Australia during that time.

In addition to  LeTourneau equipment manufactured from 1941 to 1953,  this book covers in great detail, LeTourneau-Westinghouse and Wabco equipment from 1953 to 1984. The development of each machine type is covered along with detailed and extensive equipment manufacturing records, serial numbers and production tables, illustrated by some 358 photographs.

The LeTourneau Legend is a 50-year history of American earthmoving equipment manufacturer, R.G. LeTourneau, Inc. Few would argue that LeTourneau's history is essentially the history of the earthmoving industry from 1920 to 1970. First published in 1995, this was the first book ever to be published covering the history of LeTourneau heavy equipment. Source and research materials includes both company and non-company materials, researched over the course of nearly two decades prior to publication. This book is considered to be the most authoritative book on the history of earthmoving equipment (now in its third printing) and has become the benchmark reference work for numerous books, magazine articles and writings by authors and writers on the subject of heavy earthmoving equipment history and methods and in particular, LeTourneau, world-wide.

This book begins with R.G. LeTourneau's early days as a pioneer earthmover in California, continues through the challenging  earthmoving days of The LeTourneau Construction Company in the late 1920s and follows the Company's expansion to become the manufacturing colossus of R.G. LeTourneau, Inc. eventually employing some 5000 people in four factories in the USA and one in Australia. R G LeTourneau is now considered to be the dean of modern   earthmoving equipment.

The LeTourneau Legend includes 314 accompanying photographs and illustrations, some being shown in print for the very first time along with production records, equipment patents and specifications. Also included are historical accounts of the involvement of key personnel who worked for the LeTourneau Company.

The LeTourneau Legend is a high quality hard bound book of considerable technical detail. It is assumed by author Philip G Gowenlock that the reader is already familiar with engineering, mechanical and earthmoving terminology.

NEW! Revised Third Edition - 2005.

The LeTourneau Archive is a companion book to The LeTourneau Legend and is a pictorial reference guide to identify the  machines designed and built by R.G. LeTourneau, Inc from 1920 to 1998. This complete photographic archive covers the early years from 1920 to 1953 (up until the sale of the company to WABCO in 1953) and continues the following years up until the sale of the company to Marathon in 1971 and beyond. It contains 280 full page photographs of LeTourneau equipment including earthmoving, land clearing, heavy transportation, materials handling and lifting equipment, mobile off-shore drilling platforms, and a number of futuristic designs that were on the drawing board in the late 1960s but not developed or built.

It is widely accepted that R.G LeTourneau is considered the 'Father' of modern day earthmoving practice and equipment. This book describes in photographic form, the machines LeTourneau designed and built. Some were one-off, experimental or prototype machines, while others were built in their thousands and became industry standard for earthmoving contractors all over the world, for decades. For quick reference and identification, author Philip G Gowenlock has provided model identification and general technical specifications for each machine featured.

The LeTourneau Archive is a high quality hard bound book - a "Must Have" to complete your heavy equipment reference library.
